Emergence of human nature from reorganised key elements
The works on display were created by means of “reorganisation of key elements”. The “key elements” are however negligible within the intangible continuum of custom. The images emerged from the collage are even far from logical. However, Dr Lin Yutang, in his book “My Country and My People”, has a distinctive view on “the Chinese mind”. He said, “in fact, to be “ in accord with human nature,” to be chinh’ing, is a greater consideration than to be logical.” Art should be the case.
The displayed works compose of many strangers gathering at the same places, doing the same things. This is human nature, which determines its custom.
Who grew up in Hong Kong, is part of Hong Kong’s custom itself. From a person who grew up in Hong Kong to express Hong Kong's custom, this in itself may be regarded as a part of the Hong Kong’s custom. This also applies to the bystanders. Let us make Hong Kong more "human nature"!
